The Beginner's Guide to Pegging

The Beginner's Guide to Pegging

Think you know what is "typical" of a heterosexual relationship?

Our understanding of taboo is changing, and anal play is increasingly less unheard of for both women and men alike.

For long-term partners, partners with deep trust and those looking to flip their dynamic on its head, pegging, the act of a woman penetrating her male partner, is on the rise. Many men enjoy the chance to play submissive, while their partners report pleasure in the newfound power and dominance.

Think pegging is something you and your partner would be interested in? Read on.

Our take on pegging:

So what's the big deal?

Why are men - yes, even straight men, despite stereotypes - interested in anal play?

Put quite simply, because it feels good. The anus and rectum are full of nerves, just like a penis. What's more, men have a prostate gland, which offers the ability to orgasm by stimulating the prostate alone.

(The prostate is a walnut-sized gland found beneath a man's bladder. This gland is essentially the male g-spot and is easily reached through the anus.)

So why pegging and not just anal play?

While anal play may include fingering, rimming (analingus), or use of toys, pegging is unique for the ways in which it shifts traditional power dynamics within a couple's relationship.

Pegging offers physical pleasure, but there is another layer of mental stimulation as well.

The act of thrusting into one's partner holds power, a type of dominance women don't often experience - especially in heterosexual relationships. More over, the man who often, if not always finds, himself in this role is allotted the opportunity to relax and be submissive.

Men report arousal at their partners assertiveness, which in some instances remains present when having "traditional" PIV sex.

Furthermore, men who are effected by ED say that they are able to orgasm by stimulating the prostate gland alone. Pegging takes the pressure off their penis, a welcomed change and relief.

The reining feedback from men who participate in pegging, however, is that it feels good, and is a welcome shift of regular dynamics.

Communicate!

So we've convinced you you want to be pegged - or maybe you knew that coming into this article. What's next?

Unless your partner has mind-reading powers, you'll have to talk to them about your interest in trying pegging. Speak your desires into existence. They may express hesitation or discomfort with the idea - but if this is the worse that can happen, there doesn't seem to be much to lose.

Pegging is most often carried out by long-term partners, those with an established trust and those with open minds and progressive views on sex.

With this in mind, bringing it up is a little less nerve-wrecking, don't you think?

(If you're noticing a trend in our posts recommending communication, it's because its a good tip. Whoever said communication was key wasn't joking.)

Getting down to it.

First of all, let it be on the record that we let you know the anus is not self-lubricating. If you've ever participated in anal sex, you know the importance of loads of lube.

Another thing to keep in mind is the importance of relaxing. Being penetrated anally is largely mental. Relaxing the sphincter is of utmost importance, and it may not happen right away, or even your first go at pegging. Be patient and engage in foreplay the same you would during traditional PIV sex.

Additionally, if you've never been pegged before, it never hurts to begin slowly, perhaps using butt plugs, vibrators, or slim dildos to begin. Incorporate these tools into your pegging session as foreplay, or play around with them before hand, building up to pegging at a later date.

Remember - checking in with your partner is key. Communication doesn't end the moment the cheeks are spread.
